This post is dedicated to my blogging buddy Super Aafke, err I mean Aafke, who knows a gazillion art forms and who loves horses. For those people who followed the adventures of Supergirl back in the days (I am not that old, I just know these things, ok?), she had a couple of pets in the Silver Age. One of these was of course cats. Well you can’t go wrong with cats can you? π Another was a horse – comet the superhorse. The funny thing about comet was that whenever a comet would pass Earth he world turn into a centaur. This is still within the limits but the most bizarre thing was when in certain comics superhorse would turn into a man! But whatever the case may be don’t forget people there was a horse called comet, a superhorse. Even the man of steel of jealous of superhorse. The story does not end here, after the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new more plausible character with the same name was introduced. This time superhorse was a shapeshifter who could changes forms from male human to female human to a horse.

Hee, cool!~I’ve never heard of Superhorse!
So that’s 0-1 for you on comic-nerdyness! Shape-shifting is totally unnessecary for superhorse: I prefer horses over men anytime! π
About handy pets in the nerd-universe: my brother plays ”World of Warcraft” and he has a pet-tigercat!
I love the illustration: look how miffed Superman looks! π
This is so typical for men in the real world! What, with a horse and a dog, should a cool woman need a man for? (Yeah, putting out the garbage, cleaning dishes… but who are we kiddin’? Men never do these things!)
This miffed-look then, is what we see in the real world all the time!!!
Uh… how is it that people who play “World of Warcraft” have to be nerds? I mean, maybe we’re not as cool as Superhorse, but really… (and I have to take out my own garbage, too!)
Haha, a shape shifting Super Horse is certainly a more plausible character π I am a big comic book fan, and had a large collection when I was young. My son has them all now π
Ya Haqq!
Ooooh, I was really impressed with: (and I have to take out my own garbage, too!)
And then I noticed the word ”have”
Hum, yes, you have no choice then, huh?
I still have a lot of comic books, but European comics are different from American ones.
There is too much television today, keeps the kids from reading their comics!
Aafke, Yes! Amina 1, Aafke 0. You are right about the shapeshifting part. Its kind of weird. Especially the silver age superhorse kind of freaked me out. Speaking of Warcraft, Koreans OWN that place. π If you look closely superman is actually jealous of superhorse. Poor superman. Men – can’t live with them, can’t live without them.
Lofter, Yes Warcraft is the new Korean stereotype. “O you are Korean. You must be really good at Warcraft!” “No I am not! I have never played it in my life!”
Darvish, wow that’s cool. What are your favorite characters? I would love to know. You know what would be really cool, a manga version of ‘Master of the Jinn.’ My drawing skills are not that great but if they were …..
Boy, thats an old comic book,
How long since a comic book only cost 12c ??????
